Terms of Use
Last updated: March 26, 2026
1. Acceptance of Terms
By creating an account on Just Tutor Me ("the Platform"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, do not use the Platform. You must be at least 18 years of age and a parent or legal guardian of any children whose profiles you create on the Platform.
2. Description of Service
Just Tutor Me is an AI-powered adaptive learning platform designed for homeschool families. The Platform provides AI tutoring, mastery tracking, progress reporting, and state compliance documentation. The Platform is operated by Just Tutor Me and accessible at justtutor.me.
3. Parent Responsibility for Legal Compliance
THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT SECTION OF THESE TERMS.
YOU ARE SOLELY RESPONSIBLE for ensuring your homeschool program complies with all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations. Just Tutor Me provides tools and information to ASSIST you, but does NOT guarantee legal compliance.
State compliance reports, progress documents, transcripts, and any other documents generated by the Platform are AI-GENERATED ESTIMATES based on tracked learning data. They are NOT certified academic records, NOT government-approved documents, and NOT legal filings.
You must independently verify that any documents generated meet your state's specific requirements before submitting them to any government agency, school district, or other authority.
Homeschool laws vary by state and change frequently. While we make reasonable efforts to keep our state requirements database current, we cannot guarantee that our information reflects the most recent legal changes. You should consult your state's department of education website and/or legal counsel for authoritative guidance.
Just Tutor Me is NOT a law firm and does NOT provide legal advice. Nothing on this Platform constitutes legal advice.
4. AI-Generated Content Disclaimer
The Platform uses artificial intelligence (powered by Anthropic's Claude) to generate instructional content, explanations, practice problems, and assessments. You acknowledge and agree that:
- AI-generated content may occasionally contain errors, inaccuracies, or incomplete information. While we employ a validated knowledge graph and safety systems to minimize errors, no AI system is infallible.
- The Platform is an educational tool and supplement. It is not a replacement for certified instruction where required by law, and it does not confer academic credits, diplomas, or certifications.
- You, as the parent, are responsible for overseeing your child's education and verifying that the instruction meets your standards and your state's requirements.
- AI-generated progress reports and grade equivalents are estimates based on mastery data, not certified academic records.
5. Content Safety
The Platform employs a three-tier content safety system to protect children:
- Tier 1 — Universal guardrails: Hardcoded safety rules that apply to all families regardless of settings. These cannot be disabled.
- Tier 2 — Worldview filtering: Content filtering based on your chosen worldview setting (secular, faith-compatible, YEC, or classical).
- Tier 3 — Custom watchlist:Your family's custom list of topics to be avoided or flagged for parent review.
Despite these measures, no content filtering system is perfect. If your child encounters content you consider inappropriate, you will receive a safety alert notification (which cannot be disabled), and you can report the content for review.
6. COPPA Compliance
The Platform is designed to comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). Children under 13 do not create accounts. Children access the Platform through family codes and PINs set by their parent. For full details, see our Privacy Policy.
By creating child profiles on the Platform, you consent to the collection of your child's learning data as described in our Privacy Policy. You may withdraw this consent at any time by deleting the child's profile.
7. Accounts and Security
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials, your family code, and your children's PINs. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorized access.
Student sessions expire after 8 hours of inactivity. API access is rate-limited to prevent abuse.
8. Bring Your Own Curriculum (BYOC)
The Platform allows you to upload your own curriculum materials (PDFs, documents, images) for use in AI-grounded instruction. By uploading content, you represent and warrant that:
- You own the content or have a lawful right to use it for educational purposes within your family.
- The Platform processes uploaded content through text extraction and chunking to enable AI-grounded responses. This constitutes transformative fair use for personal educational purposes.
- Uploaded content is stored in your family's private storage and is never shared with other families or used for any purpose beyond instructing your children.
- You may delete uploaded content at any time, which removes both the stored file and all extracted text chunks.
9. Intellectual Property
The Platform's knowledge graph — including all skill nodes, prerequisite edges, cross-subject dependencies, misconception databases, and standard alignments — is proprietary intellectual property of Just Tutor Me. The adaptive placement algorithm, diagnostic engine, and mastery verification system are also proprietary.
You retain ownership of all content you upload through the BYOC feature. Your children's learning data belongs to your family and can be exported or deleted at any time.
10. Subscription and Payment
Subscription pricing and payment processing details will be published before the Platform exits its early access period. Early access users will receive advance notice of any pricing changes.
11. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Just Tutor Me shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Platform, including but not limited to:
- Errors or inaccuracies in AI-generated instructional content
- Failure to meet any specific educational outcome or standard
- Interruptions in service availability
- Loss of data beyond our documented retention and backup policies
- Any legal consequences arising from your reliance on Platform-generated compliance documents
- Changes in state homeschool laws that affect your compliance status
12. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Just Tutor Me, its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, losses, or damages (including attorney's fees) arising from:
- Your use of the Platform
- Your violation of these Terms
- Your failure to comply with applicable homeschool laws
- Any dispute between you and a government agency regarding your homeschool compliance
13. Termination
You may terminate your account at any time through your account settings. Upon termination, your data will be handled according to the retention and deletion policies described in our Privacy Policy (30-day grace period followed by permanent deletion).
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or are used in ways that compromise the safety of children on the Platform.
14. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Ohio, without regard to conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the Platform shall be resolved in the courts of the State of Ohio.
15. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email at least 30 days before they take effect. Continued use of the Platform after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
